As a client at SerenityBridge, you have rights. We are committed to transparency and ensuring every client understands their protections.

Your rights as a client

Right to confidentiality

Your personal health information is protected under HIPAA. Information about your care will not be shared without your written consent, except as required by law (such as mandatory reporting of abuse or imminent danger).

Right to informed consent

You have the right to receive clear information about your diagnosis, treatment options, and the risks and benefits of each option before agreeing to any course of care.

Right to participate in your treatment plan

You have the right to be involved in developing your treatment plan and to have your preferences, goals, and concerns taken into account.

Right to refuse treatment

You have the right to refuse any treatment or service. Your clinician will explain the potential consequences of refusing, but the decision is yours.

Right to know your fees

You have the right to receive clear information about your session fees, including your sliding-scale rate, before services begin. You will not be charged for services you did not agree to.

Right to access your records

You have the right to request a copy of your clinical records. Requests are processed in accordance with applicable state and federal law.

Right to file a complaint

You have the right to file a complaint about your care without fear of retaliation. Complaints may be submitted to SerenityBridge directly, or to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.

Plain language summary

In plain terms: we will treat you with respect, keep your information private, explain what we're doing and why, involve you in decisions about your care, and never charge you for something you didn't agree to.

If something feels wrong, you can tell us. If you don't feel comfortable telling us, you can contact the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors at (512) 305-7700 or visit their website at dshs.texas.gov.
